Job Title: Process Metallurgist

Location: [Pittsburgh, PA ]

Reports To: Director of Process Metallurgy

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Process Metallurgist to join our team. This role provides technical support for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of products that meet quality and delivery requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner. The focus will be on melt shop operations , including AOD, EAF, and bottom pouring .

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with quality and safety systems and procedures .
• Review and disposition heats produced in the air melt shop.
• Drive process and product improvements within melt shop operations.
• Perform statistical analysis and correlate process and product data.
• Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for non-conformances.
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives .
• Review customer claims and issue technical reports .
• Provide technical support during customer and regulatory audits .

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science (Graduate degree preferred, especially with a focus on steelmaking).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in ferrous metallurgy of aerospace materials .
• Minimum 3 years of experience in primary melting and remelting processing .
• Strong analytical, statistical analysis, and problem-solving skills .
• Proficiency in computer applications relevant to metallurgy.
• Experience with SEM/EDS operation preferred, including automated feature analysis (AFA) .
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills .
